The Cooperation Councilor of La Paeria, Jackson Quiñónez, accompanied by Antoni Blanc, president of the Association for the United Nations in Lleida, participates in the Institutional event commemorating United Nations Day with the raising of the flag in the courtyard of La Paeria palace, in the morning, and with the blue lighting of the facade of La Paeria and the city's bridges, in the evening.

For more than 15 years, the Paeria building has hosted this action that commemorates the celebration of United Nations Day and is used to inform and raise awareness among the public through a panel with relevant information to the International Organization.

On October 24, 1945, the Charter of the United Nations came into force. Every year, on this date, two fundamental events are commemorated. On the one hand, the work in favor of peace, which has been carried out by the United Nations for 77 years, and, secondly, the importance of municipalities, cities and towns, in the realization of human rights and peace at all levels.
